I’m a writer, translator, and religion scholar. I teach classes on religion, mysticism, monks, blood, and Freud at a small liberal arts college, and I’ve published essays and reviews in magazines like Salvage, Jewish Currents, Boston Review, Lapham’s Quarterly, and The Point. I live in Brooklyn with two pitbulls (one human, one canine).
Recent and semi-recent writing includes an essay (written with a friend) on dirty work; a review of two books arguing for diasporism; a conversation about international law and the Nakba; a review of a book arguing for diasporic nationalism; and a history of German linguists who love their mothertongue.
I’m currently finishing my first academic book on scenes of unwilling conversion in medieval and early modern writing. I’m also currently finishing a translation of Jean-Luc Lagarce’s play Juste la fin du monde; meanwhile here’s a short recent translation I did.
